We arrived at the hotel at 10 am, well before our scheduled check-in at 3 pm. The staff got in touch with the hotel administration right away, explained our situation clearly, and offered to keep our luggage safe until the room was ready. True to her word, she called us at 1 pm, ahead of the official check-in time, to let us know our room was ready. My husband and I stayed at Vita Home Soho for 5 nights in early June during our visit to Lanzarote. We booked through Airbnb, although it is also available on Booking.com. It is a self-service stay rather than a traditional hotel, so we were given the entrance and room codes before arrival and accommodated ourselves.

Overall, Vita Home Soho was spacious, tidy and beautifully furnished. The lobby areas had plenty of comfortable seating and nice furnishings, and there was also a social area on one of the floors which would be great for studying, working or relaxing. Washing machines were available too. Although Soho does not have its own rooftop, guests have access to the Tribeca rooftop, just a minute’s walk away, which has plenty of tables, chairs and sun loungers.

Our room was very well designed, clean and well maintained. I particularly liked the different lighting options, including the lamps, wall-art lighting and ceiling lights. The living area had a kitchen, dining table, sofa, lamp, large TV and air conditioning. The AC did not seem to work as efficiently as expected, although this may have been a one-off. The bathroom had a shower with sliding doors, toilet, sink with storage and towels, a large mirror with lighting and a hairdryer. The bedroom had a double bed, bedside lighting, wardrobe, a pull-out TV and a fan with remote control (which could also be controlled from the switches beside the bed).

Our room also had a balcony with a table and chairs, accessible from both the living room and bedroom. The storage cupboard contained extra cleaning equipment, a drying rack and sun loungers, which we used when relaxing outside. The only bedroom issue I would mention is the duvet cover. It appeared to be slightly larger than the duvet itself, meaning it would move around and leave gaps while we were sleeping. We often had to keep kicking or adjusting the cover back into place during the night, which made sleeping a little uncomfortable. The drying rack was also useful for swimwear, although no clips were provided, so our clothes sometimes fell off.

We did occasionally notice a few harmless ants, mainly around the bathroom/balcony areas, possibly due to the open bathroom window or balcony. Unfortunately, one also made its way into the bedroom. We contacted the team, and they responded very quickly. They sprayed insect repellent around the room the following morning and left us the can to use ourselves. They were also reassuring about their cleaning procedures and confirmed that no hazardous insects had been present on the premises. We really appreciated how quickly and kindly this was handled.

The location was convenient, with plenty of shops, breakfast places and food options nearby. One minor inconvenience is that cars cannot access the road directly outside, so you need to walk a short distance. This was also the case for activity pick-ups, as we had to walk to Hotel Gran Canaria. It is only around 5 minutes, although it can feel quite cold at night when you’re dressed for summer.

Service was excellent overall. Any issues were responded to immediately, door codes worked perfectly, the lift was always working, and all staff we encountered were friendly and polite. There is also an on-site car park, although it comes at an additional cost and the rates are quite high, which would be something to consider if renting a car.

Despite the minor issues, I would definitely stay at Vita Home Soho again when visiting Lanzarote. Overall, I would give it 4/5 — nothing major, just a few small areas for improvement. (:
